Hello! I'm Jack

World Traveller & Professional Blogger

Some info about me....

John Charles Bobeck (me) was born March 8, 1969 in Bridgeport, Connecticut around 3 AM (best his mom can remember). A healthy baby boy to Candice and John Bobeck, I would be called Jack like JFK was known as Jack . We moved 6 months later to Indiana where sister Eileen was born in Ft Wayne and brother Bret born in Indianapolis. We all would spend some more time in West Lafayette until 1980

One day John Bobeck met a sales rep from a records management company (file folders, labels, shelving, furniture) and they offered him sales training so he could take over a territory in Jacksonville, FL. John, Candy, Jack, Eileen, Bret, Happy (dog) and Ziggy (cat) would all make the trip from Indiana to Jacksonville, FL and settle in Mandarin.

It is from the home base on Sparkleberry Lane in Mandarin that I played baseball, basketball, football and had a fabulous childhood. I attended St. Josephs Catholic School for two years and then was given an opportunity to attend Bolles, where in 1986 my varsity football team won the State Championship with a 13-0 record. I was also a star in baseball where I lettered for three years and went to the state final four every year he was on varsity.

In 1987 I was accepted to Florida, Auburn, Purdue and Georgia Tech. So to be different, I decided to attend Georgia Tech. The only graduate out of 134 in my class to buck the trend of UF, FSU and GA at the time. Even though I could do the science the engineering math proved too much, and would eventually change my major to Business Management and in 1992 graduated with the Bachelor of Science. While at Tech, I would learn how to program computers and have fun with Unix. This led to a student job with Deloitte Touche in fixing computers and software needs for the consultants.

After Georgia Tech, I was offered a job at Coca-Cola in Atlanta. I was assigned the Workstation Support Group and was fortunate to be there right before the Olympics. It was a fun time in Atlanta for sure. I met my ex wife at Coca-Cola. Its there we started taking trips and had a great honeymoon cruise floating around the Caribbean. Its from that cruise that bore more trips to Europe five times, many more ocean cruises, trips to Hawaii, Canada and Mexico.

After the divorce in 2019, I set out to go places again. I went to the Florida Keys, Clearwater, Daytona, Orlando all over Florida. I also went to Jamaica and the Outer Banks of North Carolina last year. This year I went to New York City and enjoyed two weeks in Thailand. More on all of these later, but that brings you up to date with me.
